It has been revealed that Activision’s upcoming first person shooter game, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, will offer richer post release content than Modern Warfare 3, while Modern Warfare 4 will bring “significant” engine upgrades.
The well-known “Call of Duty” whistleblower TheGhostOfHope shared new details about the post release content of “Call of Duty: Black Ops 7” and the engine of “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4” on the X platform. According to its sources, Activision’s current plan is to provide a significant amount of content for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 from season one to season four, gradually reducing it to free up time for the marketing efforts of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4.
The informant further mentioned that Treyarch withdrew some of the post release content originally planned for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 earlier this year and is now planning to repurpose it for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.
According to TheGhostOfHope, Treyarch and Raven Software have been asked to devote all their resources to Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Warzone. They were informed that this move was due to the engine upgrade of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 being “very significant” and therefore requiring significant restructuring of existing resources. Therefore, Treyarch and Raven Software’s current focus is to complete all post release content for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and release it all before the release of Modern Warfare 4.
Regarding the post release content of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 after the fourth season, the whistleblower clarified that Treyarch and Raven Software will not cancel any season. According to its statement, the content of the fifth season and subsequent seasons will be slightly less than the first to fourth seasons, as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will be heavily promoted alongside the multiplayer beta version.
