IGN announced its picks for the Best PS5 Games of 2025 today (December 18th), with a total of five titles making the list—four runners-up and one Game of the Year for PS5.
IGN noted that over the past year, Sony’s PlayStation has achieved tremendous success driven by exclusive titles and a host of cross-platform releases. Particularly, following the arrival of several Microsoft Xbox games on PlayStation platforms, the PS5’s market reach has expanded further. As a result, the 2025 Best PS5 Games selections were not limited to PS5 exclusives; instead, all games released on the PS5 platform were comprehensively evaluated to ultimately select the five standout performers.

2025 PS5 Game of the Year: Light and Shadow: Expedition 33

Bolstered by its legendary narrative storytelling and satisfying combat system, Light and Shadow: Expedition 33’s recognition as both Game of the Year and Best PS5 Game is thoroughly merited.
