In the recent Q3 2025 earnings Q&A session, developer Shift Up revealed plans to launch its successful action adventure game “Sword Star” on more platforms in order to reach a wider player base.
This move may include releasing a version for Nintendo’s next generation console, Switch 2.
Shift Up stated that in order to further enhance the brand awareness and drive sales of the IP “Sword Star”, the company is considering adding platform expansion and conducting diversified marketing activities.
The company is optimistic about the performance of “Sword Star” in the fourth quarter of 2025 and 2026, and expects its IP popularity to continue.
When evaluating the performance of the third quarter, Shift Up pointed out that “Sword Star” has been recognized as one of the most successful platform expansion cases in the history of 3A level IP worldwide.
The PC version maintained a strong momentum in its fourth month of release, receiving a 93% “special review” on Steam;
The PS5 version has successfully attracted new players through summer promotions and other activities.
The company emphasized that the total sales on both platforms met expectations, confirming that the game has solidified its position as a “long selling work”.
Sword Star has now been released on PlayStation 5 and PC platforms. With possible platform expansion in the future, more players will have the opportunity to experience this highly acclaimed work.
